Two representatives from Clyde Bergemann Ltd(CBS), visited Buckingham Palace on Monday 13th July 2009 after the firm was awarded the equivalent of a company knighthood in this year’s Queens Award for International Trade.

Iain Carruthers, CBS Sales Manager and Jim Logan, CBS Logistics Manager attended a special evening reception for 2009 Queen’s Award winners, hosted by Her Majesty The Queen and other members of the Royal Family.

Three weeks prior to the Palace reception, CBS was also presented with the Queens Award Grant of Appointment and Award presentational crystal bowl by the Lord Lieutenant of Glasgow, Robert Winter. Bert Oxford, CBS’s longest serving employee accepted the award on behalf of the company at CBS’s office in the east end of Glasgow. Other attendees included local MSP’s Sandra White from the Scottish National Party and Frank McAveety of Scottish Labour.

CBS won its Queens Award in the International Trade category in April this year. The company specialises in the supply of clean energy technologies designed to improve thermal efficiency and reduce harmful emissions through on-load cleaning of fossil fuelled applications and was recognised for demonstrating growth and performance in overseas markets predominantly in the petrochemical and marine industries with around 90% of sales exported overseas.

With 85 years of experience in the industry, CBS has become identifiable as the market leading company for their products and services. Through years of innovation and progression into new market challenges, the business has become technologically advanced with a strong focus on providing solutions specifically tailored to customer needs. Their list of reference sites becomes more extensive each year and venturing into new territories is not unfamiliar, with countries such as Ecuador, Cameroon and Sri Lanka being added in recent years.

CBS is part of Clyde Bergemann Power Group, a global acting enterprise with more than 26 operational units worldwide and over 50 agent representatives supplying a wide range of clean energy solutions including boiler efficiency, materials handling, air pollution control, energy recovery, and vacuum belt filters, SCR and FGD bypass systems, gas turbine exhaust systems and components such as dampers, diverters and expansion joints. Their global brand gives them a unique identity with their valued customers and ensures familiarity and loyalty in their competitive markets.

Over recent years a reorganization of internal processes has given CBS the ability to be cost competitive in both overseas and domestic markets with a high level of outsourcing from lower cost suppliers. Implementing lean management techniques within the business has also reduced project lead times and enhanced delivery performance to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.

Jeff Hudson, Managing Director of CBS, comments, “Receiving the Queens Award for International Trade is a great honour for our business recognising a continuing level of success and development which must be attributed to the commitment, loyalty and knowledge of our workforce combined with the continuing support and investment received from the Clyde Bergemann Power Group. Success which is particularly satisfying in view of the current challenging economic environment.”
