Rapping Device

Rapping Device
Installation Areas:

System Description

A rapping device is a special facility for boiler cleaning. By rapping the fouled convection heating surfaces the bank tubes are caused to vibrate so that the deposited combustion residue falls off. No air or steam supply is necessary as a blowing medium.

Cleaning takes place by means of mechanical hammers or by pneumatically driven impact cylinders. For heavy fouling pneumatic rapping devices are recommended which enable
higher impact energies and, as a result, a better cleaning effect.

Sections of extraordinarily difficult accessibility can be reached with the help of individual rappers.

Field of Application

Mainly long-stretched boiler passes (i. e. horizontal passes) of the type often encountered in waste incineration plants, can be cleaned with the help of a rapping device. Also, other
plants in which no other fluids are admitted to the flue gas and in which dust-laden, loose deposits are formed during the combustion, lend themselves very well to the use of a rapping device. With its help both superheaters and evaporators and the downstream economisers are freed from deposits.
